Getting Even with Northcap Review Center
June 1, 2008. I should be taking my board exam today.
And I hated it when others waste my time. I’ve long decided that I am the only person licensed to waste my time. Funny how I used the word licensed. Jesus Christ. It was all wrong from the beginning. It was a pile of dung, me praying that I’d pass the licensure exams when all the while I should’ve been praying for at least a chance to take it. Sheesh! Are you kidding me?!
I am dumb in spelling.
I guess we’ve been super-dee-duper dumb in the first place that’s why we fell victims to the evil exploits of the co-owner of Northcap Review Center, Vivian Lazaro.
Requisition. Ultimatum. Demand.
Maybe that’s why they call it “demand letter” because among the three synonymous words, the word “demand” demands the least challenge for anyone who cannot spell well. I know I heard them talking about writing a demand letter the last time there was a meeting, but I never really consider writing one or never really comprehend its use. I never had the chance to go to school last week due to my diarrhea so I never truly realized that the rest of my classmates were really serious with this. Today, an ex-groupmate in my hospital duty as a student nurse explained everything I have to learn.
She was planning to ask for a refund for every penny she wasted this summer and that includes her enrolment fees, PRC registration fee, lodging and food expenses and even her transportation allowance. I guess the total reimbursement shall cost as much as 40,000 Pesos… which is too small as compared to what Angelo’s bestfriend was asking- I heard it sums up to more than a hundred thousand Pesos.
Now I haven’t done the math yet, but with my transportation allowance amounting to more than 150 pesos a day, I guess I’ll fetch to as much as 40-50,000 Pesos…. hmmmm.
I’m going to draft my demand letter tonight and I’ll just print it tomorrow to make sure I haven’t misspelled anything. Or maybe I can e-mail it to Musang to add some interesting details, perhaps a reimbursement for the milk we added on our milkless-avocado shake.

Tama yung ginawa nung best friend ni Angelo, you need more than the amount you spent sa Review Center na yan, may tawag sa legal term yun e…nasa dulo ng dila ko lang…

Oh no! I read about the Northcap fiasco in the papers. I didn’t know you’re one of the victims. I’m sorry about this, Mon. I do hope this gets resolved in your favor because, from what I read, it certainly looks like you’ve been taking advantage of. Whoever is responsible for this should be imprisoned.
Good luck, Mon! I hope to read an update about this.

Alam mo bro, I am very upset when I hear these kind of things happening especially when it affects our young people who are aspiring to fulfill their dreams of becoming professionals. I can’t believe this is happening in a decent institution such as a nursing review school. May sister din ako who is a nurse at iniisip ko, if this happened to her baka hindi na siya nakapunta sa States at naapektuhan ang kanyang motivation.
Yung management ng review school new is liable to compensate the students 100%, no more no less. Ang pinagtataka ko, what is the government doing? THey should give an order to the school to take action and provide the students relief as soon as possible, tsk tsk
Anyways, I hope they will remedy the situation asap so you and your fellow reviewers can move on with life.

i guess the damage has been done, but let me put it this way…the PRC never encouraged applicants for NLE to have someone apply for them..they’ve already stated that many times every NLE season and people just dont get the picture. In this situation, you don’t just blame certain people…you also blame yourself. I am also a northcap reviewee and i was able to take my exams, because i filed my application myself…i wasn’t lured by the convenience…ganun kasi pinoy eh…mahilig sa madalian…now that this has happened, you suffer the consequences of your action. Kaninong kasalanan? sa NORTHCAP??? yeah, partly theirs…but hey, who’s to blame for in the first place? TAYO din diba?? kasi ayaw natin maghirap….kudos to people who chose the suffering and the long lines…because they are now reaping the fruits of a hardwork…pointing all fingers to these people is just so sad…di na kasi natuto ang mga pilipino. Number 1 defense mechanism of filipinos—PROJECTION (blaming others..) how true,,,,on my point of view…you handed them your money and your documents, it was your choice, you suffer the consequences because you chose the easy way….and now we’re talking about money…ganun lang naman yun eh,perahan lang?? that’s so sad…everything can be equated with money—including dignity. Why do we reflect for a while and thik of the whole scenario…there were a lot of northcap reviewees…most of them were able to take the exam, why was i not able to do so?? because of northcap? no….because of STUPID desicsions that i would now have to pay…think of it…

My school also had Northcap review center as our in -house before the board exams last June 1 and 2. We have to attend every weekends for that. The thing that pisses me off big time is that the school said the grades from the drills we do in this review will be incorporated in our grades at school which I think is stupid and fucked up. First of all, desperate, dumb students tried to check their own papers, shocking every one of the heavenly scores that they get. The tired, underpaid, mediocre nurses who serve as proctors/watchers/yayas of us don’t’ really give a shit. In the end, these students who get staggering grades in the transcript of records because of this system didn’t pass the board exam. Lesson here is, don’t be stupid enough to believe what the review centers tell you. They’d say they care for you, love you—and even use the name Of God in their slogans to make you surrender your hard-earned money and then leave you like shit!
