This week would be our last “Normal Duty” (I mean not make up duty) for the semester. We are currently interning in a private hospital and were stationed at the Operating Room. Since there was no scheduled operation at our time and our CI was attending a baccalaureate mass for the graduating seniors, we were told to go home just after we signed in at 6:30 AM.

Instead of going home, Leslie asked us if we would want to go for a drink in a bar. but since the sun has already risen, we decided to just watch a movie at Mara’s place since her house is just within the vicinity (plus going to bars in uniforms, even in theaters and same places, are extremely prohibited by the College of Nursing).

Leslie suggested that we can buy a pirated VCD to watch. Neil suggested porn. I said Hentai would be cool. Everyone were cool and extremely excited with the idea.

The whole group, 5 boys and 11 girls, marched to Mara’s house. When we’re finally there we were welcomed warmly by Mara’s mother. Our plan to watch porn rapidly escaped our minds since it would embarrassing to her mom. Her mom fried some breakfast for us while we watched early morning shows from different channels.

After the really sumptuous breakfast we sat in the living room and finally decided to send Lallaine and Leslie to buy the DVD and the snacks. And while the rest waited Mara brought her father’s collection of VCD’s of Air Supply Videoke, actually there are other ancient artists in the volumes.

Neil, Alexander, and Angelo grabbed the microphone and started hitting the notes one after another while we sang with them without the mike. Actually, during our lunch in one private hospital that we’ve had our duty we went into this canteen that offers free videoke. My groupmates pass the mike to each other and make there voices scar the afternoon air… they, except me and Hanzel. I have never been good in singing and dancing that’s why i do not use the mike, while Hanzel, well i dunno about him. But of course just what they say, “there’s always a first time.” So after Hanzel, I grabbed the microphone and sung on top of my voice. It was so hilarious yet liberating at the same time. I yelled and screamed (and squeaked a lot) but nevertheless I enjoyed the session until Lallaine and Leslie finally returned and played the DVD.

Leslie made some sandwiches with liver spread. while the rest grabbed a pack of the chips. There are 12 movies in that DVD so we watched one and after that we had our lunch of Sinigang na Baboy.

Kristel is on a diet that’s why she didn’t taste the food and felt nauseated. We asked her jokingly how many lines were there in her test kit. Then she told me that she’s really dizzy.

Kristel: Nahihilo nga ako eh.

Me: Ba’t kasi ayaw mong kumain? ‘Wag mong sabihing busog ka pa? Eh di ka nag agahan.

Lallaine: Di ba ang Gastric Emptying time ay 4 hours?

Me: Ako nga dalawang oras lang gutom na.

Lallaine: Ako nga isa lang eh.

Angelo: Ako din.

Hanzel: Hindi kamo ako naniniwala na after four days mo pa ieetsas yung nakain mo. Kasi minsan pagkumain ako ng mani kinaumagahan lang eh.

Lallaine: Ba’t nakita mo?

Hanzel: Oo, tiningnnan ko may buo buo pa, yung di ko nanguya.

Me: Ako nga minsan kahit yung mais eh. Pati kung Ice Cream yung color katulad nitong scrub suit natin.

Hanzel: Pati nga yung mga kamatis…

Me: Oo yung balat. Pati minsan pag gulay-gulay yung ulam yung fibers nandun.

After the long profound conversation, Kristel asked me if I can accompany her to the bus terminal since I was going back to school anyway for my Make Up Duty Sked.
